We are known as picture framers, and yes that much is true. But, and it may be our ever so slightly biased view here, we are a little more than that. We are creative.

In other words we can produce simple frames to order within tight deadlines and strict budgets. But importantly (especially for our sanity), as artists/designers we relish a challenge.

We get our kicks from listening to our customers describing their wishes, and coming up with something that fits the bill. Hopefully the result exceeds their expectations.

A few months ago we began this process on a very large scale.. we started designing and making a trophy display case measuring around 2.5 metres (8 foot) wide. Like any giant picture frame, with an oak surround and glass front, it has been made to show off our customer’s treasured possessions. It might have integral state-of-the-art dimmable LED gimbal down lights, adjustable toughened glass shelves and locking sliding doors.. but essentially it’s still just a big frame.

We sketched out our idea of what we thought they wanted, and after agreeing the details and budget, were given the green light. That was some five months ago, and last week we finished the job on site.

Big thanks are due to Martin, who did the lion’s share of the construction work in our workshop, making a beautiful job of the oak carcass, fitting the top quality sliding glass door track, and the LED lighting system. And for following through with the installation job on site, made extra tense considering the cabinet weighs nearly 150kgs with mirrors, glass and the contents.

Thanks also to Dan at City Electrical Factors for specifying the dimming LEDs, Joe at Hafele for the great advice on hardware, and friends Mark and Des respectively for their structural and electrical guidance.
